CARE & MAINTENANCE

Material care guide

Use the section for the materials and finishes selected for your order. The product page covers its particular parts; this guide covers general cleaning. The supplied care label and confirmed specification take priority.

Fabric

  • Check the composition, fabric reference and care label first. Dust with a soft, dry cloth; use a low-suction upholstery attachment only when the fabric instructions allow it.
  • Blot spills with a clean, white absorbent cloth without rubbing. Avoid pulling pile or loops with a stiff brush.
  • A removable cover is not necessarily washable. Confirm machine washing, dry cleaning, steam treatment and stain removers against the specific care label.

Leather & synthetic upholstery

  • Leather: aniline, semi-aniline, coated and nubuck leathers need different treatment. Start with a soft, dry cloth; confirm wet cleaning, cleaners and conditioners against the selected leather instructions.
  • PU, synthetic and composite upholstery: identify the surface material separately. Do not apply leather oils or transfer natural-leather treatments to synthetic upholstery.
  • Avoid harsh rubbing, sharp objects, prolonged direct sunlight and nearby heat sources. Do not use alcohol, solvents, bleach or polishes on an unidentified finish.

Natural stone

  • Identify the stone and its surface treatment first; a veined photograph does not establish the material or stain resistance. Use suitable coasters and trivets and lift hard objects instead of dragging them.
  • Blot spills promptly and keep liquid away from edges and joints. Keep acidic descalers, vinegar, lemon and abrasives off an unconfirmed stone finish.
  • Before stain removal, polishing or resealing, send the material details and a photograph of the mark for a suitable professional treatment.

Ceramic & glass tops

  • Remove loose dust, then follow the instructions for the exact finish. Confirm suitable cleaners separately for back-painted, coated and plain glass.
  • Avoid scrapers, steel wool and abrasive pads. Protect edges from impact and avoid sudden temperature changes; use a trivet beneath hot items.
  • Keep cleaning liquid away from underside coatings, bonded joints and upholstered edges. Do not remove heavy tops or glass shelves just to clean them.

Wood & lacquered surfaces

  • Distinguish exposed solid wood, veneer, lacquer and an internal upholstered frame. An internal wood frame does not mean the outer surface needs oil. Dust with a soft, dry cloth and blot moisture promptly.
  • Wet wiping, oiling and waxing depend on the actual finish. Ask before treating an unidentified finish or damaged lacquer rather than copying the method used on another wooden item.
  • Protect the surface beneath hot or wet objects. Lift objects to reduce scratches and dents, and avoid prolonged direct sunlight and persistent damp.

Metal & hardware

  • Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Painted, plated, brushed and bare metals require different treatment; do not use metal polish or abrasives before identifying the finish.
  • Keep joints, swivel bases and moving mechanisms clean and dry. Do not spray liquid inside, add lubricants or adjust structural parts without instructions.
  • Stop using a mechanism if it becomes loose, resistant or noisy. Send photographs of the product and affected part, and follow the supplied service instructions.

Mirrors

  • Remove loose dust with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive pads or scrapers on the mirror.
  • If a cleaner is needed, confirm compatibility with the mirror and coating. Apply a small amount to the cloth rather than spraying the mirror; keep it away from edges, backing, joints and upholstered frames, then dry.
  • Care for the frame according to its actual material. Follow the installation instructions for supports and fixings; do not loosen them just to clean.

Lighting

  • Switch off before cleaning, unplug a plug-in light and allow it to cool completely. Follow the supplied instructions to safely isolate a fixed installation.
  • Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Keep water and cleaning liquid out of sockets, switches, connectors and electrical parts; do not soak fabric or composite shades.
  • Check the specific light instructions before removing or cleaning a glass shade. Do not apply glass-table or drinkware cleaning methods to electrical parts. Stop using a damaged light and ask for advice.
